The Nightmare Comes True!
For years, I have occasionally dreamed that it was time for me to preach and I had no notes and couldn't find them. This past Sunday night, I spoke for the Cedar Grove church in Andalusia, and when I arrived, I frantically looked for my Bible and notes in the back seat of my car, only to realize I left them behind at home. I called my daughter back home and she sent my notes from my computer to my e-mail address, but the folks at the church couldn't get their office computer to connect properly to the Internet. Time ran out, and it was time to start. I was on my own.
Thankfully, I had studied my notes before I left that afternoon, and remembered MOST of what I was planning to say. Several prayers were said for me by my wife, my mother (who went with us) and me. Not all aspects of my nightmare came true, since I was able to think of something to say, and there were some familiar things in the Bible. In my dreams I am a total blank and I can't find anything in the Bible.
The reason I was in Andalusia was to basically do an encouragement lesson a week prior to my coming for a gospel meeting there. I will leave tomorrow (Saturday) and will be speaking Sunday through Thursday. My theme is "Revival." My main text is from 2 Chronicles 7:14. "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land." My prayer is for open hearts and that God's word will truly bring revival and change some lives for good.

Hello Brent. I just read the comment you left on my post about, "That Little Boy of Mine."
It truly is unique to find someone (especially in the "blog world") who remembers and appreciates the sweetness of both those words and that time. I also know the words, taught to me by my mother, to a song called "Daddy's Little Girl". I used to sing it to my little girl...back when she was little (!) and it always brings back precious memories of that time and my own lovely childhood. I was going to send them to you (a bit long to post on a comment!) but your email came up as nonreply. If you'd like, you can reach me at: candlelibra@yahoo.com and I can send them along. Or perhaps you know these lyrics, too.
I'd like to read more of what you have to say... You sound like a kindred spirit.
God bless.
